Sacred Heart mass thank-yous

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the music ministry at Sacred Heart this morning. It was a small group, but we sang (and played) well. It was wonderful to be able to make music with you and to serve together as we represented Rivier. Your participation is so appreciated. Thank you!

A moment of beauty in your day

As we were coming in from the SLC noon activities (which were a total riot, by the way! Way to go, girls!), I noticed this gorgeous tree blooming in the courtyard and couldn't resist using it to test out some of the settings on my new camera before I went back to the classroom.

It then also occurred to me that sometimes we get so busy with our lives, and caught up in all of the deadlines, assignments, concerts, exams, projects, practices, rehearsals, etc. that sometimes we forget to, quite literally, "stop and smell the flowers." In this case I stopped and photographed them, and then shared them with you.

Happy Friday everybody. :o)

PS - Click on the photo to view the full-sized image. It's much nicer that way. :o)

7C potluck and other updates

7C potluck this Friday! The sign-up sheet is on the board in our homeroom. If you are willing and able to bring something to contribute to our lunch, then please sign up! Friday is also Mr. Seghers' last student teaching day with us, so it will be good timing to say farewell to him then.

As far as the other classes go, here's what we've been up to and what's coming up next:

IP 20/30 - 3 things to work on: Yearbook, June calendar, iDVD compilation (2 videos, background music, pictures, buttons, etc.)

IP 10 - News broadcast due one class later now due to absences for track & field

Science 7 - Exams have been marked, returned, and reviewed in class. New topic starts next class.

Choral/Jazz Choir - Singing tests are almost done. So far so good! Mass music is next, for both of the upcoming masses (May 25th - Rivier / May 29th - Sacred Heart). A sign-up sheet for May 29th mass will be coming around next rehearsal period.

Career Ed 9 - Portfolio self identity collage / begin June calendar

Level 1 Band - 2 chorales for warm ups / memory work on "First Concert March"

Thurs/Fri morning

Hi girls (and Mrs. Moon!). Mr. Seghers and I will be playing in the pit band for "South Pacific" this morning and tomorrow morning, so here's the plan while Mrs. Moon is here:

Thursday:

P1 - IP 20/30 - Your movie trailers are due today by the end of the period. Use this time for last-minute touch-ups and exporting and then hand in to the IP 20/30 drop box please. Save with your last name first so it gets filed alphabetically in the hand-in folder.

P2 - Comp 8I - New assignment: "FAITH"

Choose a high-quality photo and include one of these quotes. Save your work with your last name first and "Faith" and hand in to the drop box.

When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, Faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly” - Patrick Overton

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” - Reinhold Niebuhr

You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith.” - Mary Manin Morrissey

Fear can keep us up all night long, but faith makes one fine pillow.” - Unknown

Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to.” - George Seaton

Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.” - Kahlil Gibran

Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.” - Oswald Chambers

To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” - St. Thomas Aquinas

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” - Mother Teresa

Friday:

P2 - Science 7 - Unit 3, Topic 1 exam - review sheets handed in as well please.

P3 - Choral 10/20/30 - Mrs. Moon will work on songs for the upcoming masses. Singing tests will resume next class (Jesus Remember Me, Look at the Cross, Early One Morning, and the first page of Lead Us to the Water).

Science 7 Exam date change

The Unit 3 Topic 1 exam that was scheduled for today will be written instead on Friday, May 13th (OOOOHHHH!) due to the teacher strike last Thursday which took away one independent/group study period. Your review sheets will be due for credit at the exam, so please be sure to have them finished by Friday.
