Today's assignment is called "Seasons Collage" and the criteria is as follows:
1. Find four high quality photos of the 4 seasons (winter, spring, summer, autumn). Make sure they are distinctly from each season, and similar in the following ways:
- Content (i.e. Do they contain people - one or more? Flowers? Countryside scenery? Cityscapes? Something else?)
- Vantage point (i.e. Are they close-ups? Are the photos cropped? How big is the focal point of each photo?)
- Overall style (i.e. Are they edited with colour filters? Are they vibrant colours or a softer palette? etc.)
2. Select your 4 photos and put them into a collage. Edit the collage however you wish (NO quotes please - if you want to use text you may put the name of the season in a small, subtle, faded font on each cell of the collage).
Save it with your last name and first initial, "Seasons Collage." Hand it in to the folder. Happy editing!
(Below is my example that I created today. Note that I chose a single flower in each season, and they are all placed in the outside corner of the photograph.)

Creating Yourself
Good morning Computers 8! Today we will be doing another text editing assignment, similar to the "Some paths"-style assignments you had been doing earlier (think Tumblr quotes style, with overlays, different fonts, sizes, styles, banners, etc.).
The quote to work with is:
"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard Shaw
You are welcome to include quotation marks and the author of the quotation, or you can omit it for artistic effect, depending on how you are designing your project.
Criteria:
1. At least one image overlay (you can use lunapic to remove the background of an image if necessary)
2. At least 2 different fonts
3. At least 2 different font sizes with an obvious focal point on key words (ie. more important words = bigger font, or curved in the way that "some paths" was done, for example)
4. Text centered over your photo, leaving equal margins on top, bottom, left, and right
Make sure you check for all of the above criteria before you save your photo! Hand it in when completed, with the file name Lastname, First Initial, Creating Yourself.
You can also hand in your last 3 assignments (Faith, Peace, Joy) from Monday as I will create folders in Period 3.

Computers 8 - Faith, Peace, Joy (Monday, April 24th)
Hi Computers 8! I hope you all had a great Easter break. I will be back tomorrow, and I maaaaaay have just bought you all a tiny present from Mexico. :)
Today I'd like to you to work on 3 different photo edits - you will have next class to finish these if required.
1. Faith
2. Peace
3. Joy
You can edit photos of your own choice that evoke feelings of FAITH (can be religious faith, spiritual faith, courage faith, or any other kind of faith you decide to focus on), PEACE, and JOY. The key to success initially is taking time to choose just the right photo. Take your time and pick a professional-looking, high quality, high resolution photo that evokes emotion in the viewer.
You may choose to add text to your photo, but it is NOT required. If you do choose to add text, make sure you are thoughtful and artistic in your choices of fonts, sizes, placements, etc.
Below are a few text ideas to get you started on your photo editing. You may include one of these quotes, or you may just read through them for inspiration and to set the tone before searching for your photo that you will edit without text.
Save your photos with your last name, first initial, and the name of the assignment (Faith, Peace, or Joy - 1 of each).

Computers 8 - Eyes collage (Monday)
Good morning Computers 8! We are in the home stretch before the Easter break. Today's assignment is to find a striking close-up photograph of somebody with interesting (and wide open) eyes. You will make the photo black and white, and then tint the photo a different colour, reverse the effect, and paint back on the iris of the eyes only. Do this 4 times with 4 different colours, saving your work each time. Upload all 4 photos to Ribbet and place them into a collage.
Save your work as Lastname, First initial, Eyes collage.
You only need to hand in the final collage, not all 4 individual eyes edits leading up to that point.
Here is one I did as a sample, but I included many more than you are required to do. It's a bit too much with this many eyes, but once I committed I couldn't stop! Haha.

IP 10 April/May Bathroom Reader
April/May bathroom reader
Assignment: Create a poster-style page to be
posted in bathroom stalls for the purpose of entertaining those who are using
the loo. The poster should be relevant
to the specific month in which it will be displayed. Use a creative writing style, and include
photos, fun facts, quotes, or any other information that you deem relevant. Content must be school appropriate! Search for special (or wacky) holidays,
birthdays of notable figures, seasonally appropriate information, etc. in order
to choose the theme of your bathroom reader.
You may choose either April or May for this particular assignment. Check newsletter templates in Microsoft Word
that you may wish to use as the template for your Bathroom Reader, deleting
extra pages where necessary.
Criteria:
1. Must include a heading: April (or
May) Bathroom Reader
2. Include the name of the school
as a small subheading.
3. Include at least 5 separate
pieces of information.
4. Include at least 2 pictures or
other graphics.
5. Proper spelling, grammar, and
sentence structure is imperative!
6. Must be in a visually appealing
format (leave a margin around all sides, line text boxes up, full justify text,
etc.).
Have fun!
When you are finished, save the document as Lastname, First initial (or
name), April Bathroom Reader and hand it in to the folder.

Computers 8 Texture edit (Tuesday)
Choose a silhouette photo without too much foreground or background distraction (aim for 1,000 pixels as usual) and upload it to Ribbet. Using the Texture feature and its various options, edit your photo to your liking. We will discuss how to save the photo during class today. Save it as "Last name, Texture" and a description of the photo itself, for example, "Lohneis, Texture Butterfly" or "Lohneis, Texture Umbrella Girl" etc.
**** EDITED TO ADD: To save this project, follow these steps:
1. With your photo on the screen, press the Print Screen button. This will copy the contents of your screen in the computer's memory.
2. In the start menu, open the "Accessories" folder and select Paint. Open the application.
3. On your keyboard, use the paste shortcut (Ctrl + V) and your image will appear.
4. Click the "Crop" button and draw a box around the image you want to capture. Once you have drawn the box around your image, click the crop button again.
5. Save the resulting image as Lastname, first initial, Texture Trees (or whatever the content of your photo is). Make sure to save it as a .jpg file extension - the default in Paint will be .png
Here are a few examples so you know what your project should look like.

Page 1 stands alone, as does page 80. Everything else in the book will have another page beside it.
Your ladder should look like this:
