Computers 7 Keyboard Shortcuts assignments

Hi Computers 7!  If you have missed today's class (or last class), here's your update on what we have been doing:

Last class - We completed an assignment called "Justification" where you practice using your keyboard shortcuts to justify your text left, centre, and right.  See me for the assignment sheet.

Today's class - We are working on an assignment called "Bold Underline Italics" in which you practice using those three keyboard shortcuts to type a document containing all 3 text styles.  This one is heavy on the typing (it's almost a full page).  See me for the assignment sheet.

When you are finished, please hand in your assignment to the Computers 7 folder (hand in instructions can be found in the left column of this blog..... yes..... look left.... you will see it!  Over there!  Under "How to hand in files").

Next Comp 8 assignment - Summer

Summer:

You may create your OWN summer quotation, or choose from one of the following. You may also choose to Google search and find your own quotation to use.

In summer, the song sings itself. - William Carlos Williams

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. ~Henry James

Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"Flip Flops
Belly Tops
Palm Trees
Cute Capris
Sunglasses
Backstage Passes
Top Down
Cruising 'round Town
As the sun Dims
Comes late night Swims
Tan Lines
isn't summer just divine?"

Save your edit as "summer" and hand in to the drop box. Happy editing!

My first post from the new computer lab!

Hi everyone!

Wow, this sure feels different!  I am writing this post from our brand new (NOT MAC!) computer lab.  I haven't used a PC computer since early 2007 so this sure is an adjustment.  Please be patient with us as we figure out all the logistics of running a PC computer lab, including things like how to hand assignments in, where to save documents, how to delete items, etc.  It will be a learning experience for all of us!

Thank you to everyone who signed up for an audition for Variety Night.  It looks like it should be a great show!  More information will be available shortly.  Variety Night will be on June 3rd.

Our final concert will be on Wednesday, June 10th @ 7:00pm in the auditorium.  It is imperative that everyone is there as all of the bands, orchestras, choirs, and small ensembles will be performing.  Thank you for your support!

The UNISONG choir is now starting their rehearsals for our big trip to Ottawa.  The altos are having their first section rehearsal after school today from 3:30-4:45.  The Soprano 1s will meet tomorrow morning.  I can't wait to get started - now the FUN begins!!!

Computers 8 new assignment: Art and colour

Choose one of these quotes and find a picture that complements it. Bold colours, selective colouring, selective boosting, black and white with one striking splash of colour, etc. may be very effective in your overall photo effect. Save this assignment as "Art" and submit it to my drop box. Happy editing!

*********************

Colour has taken possession of me; no longer do I have to chase after it. I know that it has hold of me forever... Colour and I are one. I am a painter. - Paul Klee

Seek the strongest colour effect possible. The content is of no importance. - Henri Matisse

I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn't say any other way, things I had no words for. - Georgia O'Keeffe

Why do two colours, put one next to the other, sing? Can one really explain this? No. Just as one can never learn how to paint. - Pablo Picasso

There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are others who, thanks to their art and intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun. - Pablo Picasso

Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures. - Henry Ward Beecher

The artist must create a spark before he can make a fire and before art is born, the artist must be ready to be consumed by the fire of his own creation. - Auguste Rodin
