Some photos for your entertainment and ponderance

How true! Just remember this the next time you're practicing your band instrument or studying for a math test or trying to learn your crazy (and wonderful) choir harmony parts:

The view from my house on Wednesday night as I was leaving for City Band rehearsal - this proves that the world is beautiful if you take the time to stop and enjoy what surrounds you every day. :o)

And, just for fun....

IP 10 "movie night" date change - due date unaffected

The student retreat on Tuesday is for the afternoon only, leaving us with a class on Tuesday morning after all. If we can do our "movie night" then, that would be ideal. It may take us two classes to view all of the presentations. This event is always fun, as it gives us a chance to see the work of our classmates as well as serve as inspiration for our future iMovie video/photo projects.

Please have your exported iMovies handed in by 3:30 today. Thanks!

IP 10 iMovie due date reminder

IP 10 - Just a reminder that you have now had your last class period to work on your major iMovie presentations. We will be having our "movie night" on October 5th (it may take 2 classes to get through everyone's iMovies). You are welcome to bring popcorn or snacks/drinks to class to add to the atmosphere if you wish. I will be burning all presentations to DVD so we can watch them on the TV in the music room.

Several of you have already handed in your completed major assignments. If you are not yet finished, please remember that it is now your responsibility to get the iMovie finished, exported, and handed in to the IP 10 drop box by no later than Tuesday, October 4th. If you have any outstanding mini assignments (Kids, Titles and Transitions, Music and Sound Effects), please see to it asap as they are now overdue.

I will be burning the DVD on Tuesday, so please have your iMovie submitted by Friday if possible (you have no school on Monday due to teacher inservice). On Tuesday we will be busy with the retreat, so that day is out as far as work time goes.

Thanks - I'm looking forward to seeing all of your projects. Even the mini practice assignments have been looking good!

A clever bit of vandalism

Now, I don't condone graffiti or other forms of vandalism.... but this one was pretty funny.

Beginner band student lesson sign-up

Beginner band students that are not in Level 1 Band should check the list of available lesson times on my homeroom door. Please sign up for at least one lesson per week so that we can get you started on your instrument. I will show you how to assemble and disassemble your instrument, we will go over proper hand position, embouchure (your lips, teeth, and the muscles in your mouth that you use to play your instrument... which will apply to everyone except percussion), and some basic music reading skills.

If you play clarinet, please note that there are 4 beginner clarinettists who are not in Level 1 Band this year. Please try to sign up for the same times as each other if at all possible so that we can learn all at the same time instead of teaching 4 separate identical lessons at 4 different times.

If you wish to sign up for more than one time slot per week you are certainly welcome. Some of the time slots are at 8am before school, some are during school times (so you would be pulled out of your class for your lesson - this is entirely your choice and you do not need to select one of these times if you think you will have a hard time catching up in the class you missed), some lesson times are at lunch, and others are after school.

If you can sign up sooner vs. later it is easier for me to schedule. Thanks! :o)

Career Ed 7C

Today we brainstormed ideas of how your career choice may be affected if you had a family of your own. If you missed today's class, please catch up on the notes when you return.

Also, read "Daniel's Story" on page 58 of your Careers for Life textbook and answer the 5 reflection questions at the bottom. Take your time thinking of the answers and answer them as fully as possible.
