Also, please remember to bring a portrait of yourself for next class. If you wish, you may take a picture next class (I will bring my camera, and we can go outside to take nice pictures by the tree in the yard, etc.), as you will be editing a photo of yourself for your portfolio.

Comp 8 due dates
Hi 8I/8M! Just a reminder that you need to be finished your subtlety/own choice 2 assignments now. If you do not have them handed in by the beginning of next period, I will have to step. So far there have been some absolutely wonderful assignments submitted - I love seeing what great ideas you come up with!

Updates (Festival, homework, etc.)
Congratulations to the Senior Choir, the Gr. 7 and Gr. 8 French classes, and several individual students who represented our school at the PA Kiwanis Music Festival and received scholarships during the vocal/strings week. Congratulations also to the Level 2, 3, and 4 bands on their performances at the Festival on Thursday. I have just been informed that the Level 2 band is receiving a scholarship this year! Way to go, girls!
And now, some homework updates:
- Computers 8M: Your 2nd own choice assignment is due next class in addition to any overdue past assignments (subtlety, friendship, the first own choice assignment, nature quote, etc.)
- Career Ed 9: Please bring your agendas to the next class (which will be held in my classroom, not the computer lab). Also, bring your ideas of how you plan to complete the team paper flipping exercise! It was definitely interesting to watch in the last class. Remember that no feet, hands, etc. can touch the floor or anything surrounding the paper!
- Science 7: 7L, continue to work on the questions assigned last class (p. 151-152 #1, 2, 3 (a)(b)(c), 4, 6; p. 156 #1-4; p. 161 #1, 3). 7C, new assignment will come next class.

Sub plans for March 10th, 2010
Hi girls. Since I am away today, Comp 8M - please do another "own choice" edit and submit it to my drop box. I will teach you how to do the new assignment on Friday. 8I, please finish your subtlety assignments and hand them in when you are finished. Remember that any "free time" in computers is to be spent doing additional photo editing assignments! You may be able to use some of these finish products in your portfolios in the near future.
All computer band classes will be working on online theory. A copy of your passwords has been left with the substitute teacher. Also, please be reminded that the new (correct) website for online theory is:
www.canadianband.ca/onlinetheory/moodle2/moodle
We are, of course, in the Alberta/Saskatchewan group, and Level 2 of the program. Remember also that I can check your progress from home while you're here working hard for the sub! :o)
IP 10, continue to work on your iMovie projects. 15 computers successfully received the file transfer from last class, although I am not sure which 15 (helpful, I know). You may have to check various computers for the files on the hard drive - they are in a folder called "Rivier photos for iMovies" - trial and error is the key for finding these pics here. You may also copy them onto a USB if that's helpful for you.

Hi girls!
The first thing on the agenda is to finish and submit your friendship edits/own choice edits if you have not already done so.
Once you have completed the editing assignment from last class, you may begin on today's assignment. The name of the game today is subtlety. You will add text in a watermark fashion to a photo of your choice, that is, allowing some of the background to show through by fading the intensity of the text. Be sure to select a text colour that is similar to the object on which you are superimposing it (i.e. Dark golden text to place on top of an autumn leaf). For this assignment you may choose from the following word sets, select from a combination of sets, or simply choose your own words (upon my approval):
1. Live / Love / Laugh
2. Peace / Renewal / Life
3. Hope / Love / Joy
4. Stop / Look / Listen
5. Dream / Believe / Achieve / Inspire
The finish product should be soft, subtle, and overall pleasing to the eye. Try to avoid having any distracting features. Sometimes less is more.
Other effective features: Soften, Vignette (in a subtle colour and perhaps a smaller size or strength than the preset), Matte, Sepia, Black and White, possibly Focal Soften (depending on the nature of your photo), etc.
Save your assignment as "subtlety" (you don't need to put the title in quotation marks when you hand it in), and submit it to the drop box. Happy Picniking!

Congrats, Science 7!
Hi girls! All of the Mixtures and Solutions exams you wrote yesterday are graded, both for 7C and 7L. Two students from 7L and three students from 7C scored a grade of 61/62! Overall this exam was very well done. Way to go girls!

Hi Comp 8M!
Today's assignment, once you have finished your nature quote edit, is to edit a photo of friends (your own or one from Google) with one of the following quotes (or a friendship quote of your own choice, once approved by me):
