A fermata (the symbol above the measure) means to pause until the director cuts you off. So, if the fermata symbol was placed over a note, you would keep holding that note until I cue the release. In this case, it's over a rest, meaning "shut up" until I decide to continue. ;o) I thought it was cute so I had to share!
