IP 10/20/30 plans for March 22nd-23rd

IP 10 assignment for Thursday and Friday, March 22nd and 23rd:

Create an April bathroom reader to hang up starting the week before Easter. Try a new template, a new topic, and find some new and exciting material that you can share with the school. You can use Pages or Microsoft Word to create your 1-page project (newspaper template). If you finish early, you may either post to your blog (a school-appropriate topic of your own choice), or construct another bathroom reader. There are many stalls in this school, so the more, the merrier! When you are done, please label them with your last name first, April bathroom reader, and hand in to the IP 10 drop box.

IP 20/30 assignment for Friday, March 23rd:

Go through your yearbook pages and add an appropriate "infinity" quote to each of your pages (or wherever is appropriate - candid pages, spirit days, etc.). Do any finishing work you can on the pages containing events that have already happened (i.e. Blessed Marie Rivier page, school portraits and class pictures, Sound of Music, sports, student retreat, Mexican Week, etc. Can Sr. Basketball be done now?). Continue to add photos, scan grad pics (Keisha), upload photos that you've been taking or collecting from students, add your text, etc. If you can't do much with your pages at the moment, look up infinity quotes that may be used on other pages and save them in a Microsoft Word document.

IP 20/30 Gr. 8 portrait template options

2 options:

1. Change to head size B and use template #202.
2. Stay with head size C, use the 306 templates for both the left and right pages, delete all the bottom element boxes but one, and reshape that one to accommodate the group class photo.

IP 20/30 Yearbook info - printing PDFs for editing

Hi girls. I will be away for Wednesday and Thursday, and it occurred to me last class that I did not show you how to print PDFs of your yearbook pages for editing with Mr. Monette. I will outline, step by step, how to do just that in this blog entry. But first, another matter of business:

It has also been brought to my attention that some of you have had trouble with your iMovies. Mr. Jalbert is a good resource for your technological questions (although please try to avoid interrupting him during class time). Alternatively, you may choose to use one of the Macbook Pro laptops - in this event, you must make certain of a few things:

1. Copy your iMovie project onto a USB
2. Copy all of your photos/videos/music files, etc. used in the iMovie onto the USB as well - YOUR IMOVIE WON'T WORK IF THE FILES ARE MISSING
3. Make a note of which laptop you are working on, as your files will be saved on the hard drive, and NOT the server which we are used to on the computer lab Macs. In order to retrieve your project again, you will have to use the exact same laptop.

Anyway, back to printing PDFs. If you are done your commercials and they have been handed in with no technological woes (or as few as possible, hopefully), you can print PDFs of your yearbook pages to be edited by a peer. To print a PDF:

1. Sign in to the yearbook website
2. On the top menu, click "Book Creation," then "Plan," then "View Proofs."
3. In the text box, type the page number that you want to print (i.e. 24), or the page RANGE that you want to print (i.e. If you have a 2-page spread that you would like to print, enter the page numbers with a hyphen between, like 4-5)
4. Print, and give to a classmate to edit. Write your suggestions down on the PDF itself, circle things, cross things out, etc. Don't be afraid to mark it up with pen - it will be changing a bunch before the end of the year anyway and the PDF editing process is just that: a process. Pass it on to 3-4 people and see what kinds of suggestions you receive.

We will figure anything else out when I get back.
