IP 10 Family and Friends write-up guidelines

Hi IP 10. Here are a few questions to think about for your "Family and Friends" write-up so that you have somewhere to start with your assignment.

Brainstorm:

- Who are the members of my family?
- Do I have siblings? Where do I fit in the birth order? Has this affected my role in my family?
- Does my family carry on any traditions? What do they mean to me/to our family relationship?
- Who are my friends?
- How have my friends and family shaped who I am?
- Do my friends and family help me through obstacles I might face in life?
- What are the qualities I admire in my family/friends? Do I strive to be like them? Why?
- Why are my friends and I good for each other? Why are we compatible?
- Do I have any funny/inspiring/memorable stories about my friends/family?

Once you have brainstormed these (and other) questions, you may start writing in paragraph form. Remember that grammar, spelling, and organization/flow are of utmost importance. You should have a strong opening sentence that gives the reader an overview of what you will write about. For example, an opening sentence should not read "I have four people in my immediate family," but rather, "My family and friends are the people who have shaped into the person that I am and will become; they have taught me how to be caring, generous, grounded, and hard-working," etc.

We will work for approximately 2-3 classes on this project. When you are finished, save it with your last name, first initial, and "Family and Friends" and submit it to the IP 10 drop box.

Hi IP 10 students! Just a reminder to take the career profiler test on www.studentcounsellor.com (linked on the left) and continue working on your resumes using the provided resume builder (you can choose either the traditional or contemporary template). We will be working toward an end goal of compiling a professional working portfolio, of which your resume will be a part. Experiment with templates and find one that suits you.
