7 days of joy!

What a great week!

On Wednesday, the Senior Choir took a tour to Saskatoon to sing with world renowned Finnish a cappella vocal ensemble, Rajaton.  We took part in a workshop and performance with the group, along with around 250 other mass choir participants from around the province (Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, North Battleford, etc.).  It was a phenomenal experience, and we even got to snag an elusive picture with the group!

On Thursday it was my 28th birthday, and all of you excellent students made me feel special all day!

Today the Level 1 and 2 Bands got to watch a rehearsal of the Junior North Honour Band, an elite Grade 8 ensemble comprised of students from areas ranging from Saskatoon to Lloydminster.  5 of our own Rivier musicians are part of this excellent ensemble this weekend (Gabrielle, Siobhan, Abi, Drew, and Breanna).  They sounded wonderful and filled our auditorium with a full and vibrant sound - I can hardly wait for their concert tomorrow!  (2pm in the auditorium, for all interested!  No tickets needed, silver collection at the door.)

The Senior Choir also had a great rehearsal today, and we sight read some potential music for our pop concert in June - Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles, and a medley of Disney tunes.  Fun!

Happy Friday!

In extra-exciting news, Rivier will be represented at Provincials this year by multiple performers!

1. Brenna Feher was recommended for Girls' Voice
2. Chandra Hollands was recommended for 16 & Under Musical Theatre Up-Tempo
3. I was recommended for Senior Musical Theatre Ballad, and Senior Musical Theatre Up-Tempo
4. The SENIOR CHOIR WAS RECOMMENDED TO PROVINCIALS THIS YEAR!  We have been trying to make provincials for 3-4 years now and we finally did it!

Congratulations everyone!

The Level 4 Senior Band will be performing at Festival on March 13th (Wednesday) at 2:30pm.  We will be performing "Bucket Beats" - Mvt. I (Kuh-THUNK!) and Mvt. II (Can-O-Saurus).  Dress code is jeans, black shirt, and Rivier tie around the head.  Eye black may be part of the "uniform" for this performance if we can find it as well.

Good luck to all students who are performing in the Piano Festival this week!
